12X Faster, Completely Redesigned, & Introducing “Nudge”
Since Confide’s launch earlier this year, it has only become more clear that sometimes people need a way to avoid the Cloud. Confide lets you securely send private messages that leave no record. Neither you, the recipient, nor the Cloud get copies of what you send. Confide is a safe haven from the Cloud. Instead of “your things, everywhere” our vision is “your things, nowhere”. At Confide, we believe no one should have copies of your private messages.

Engineered for Speed
From our own experience and from talking with our users, we knew that the existing Confide was a bit sluggish, so we set about to completely re-engineer Confide for speed. In fact, sending and receiving a message on Confide for iPhone is now up to 12x faster than the previous version of the app.
We achieved this by pre-computing some of the end-to-end message encryption while you type your message, sending and receiving smaller payloads, and building a new message parsing engine. In addition, we implemented background refresh so your messages are waiting for you even before you launch Confide, and highly tuned the app to remove any lag from UI transitions and animations. Just give it a try and you’ll experience the speed for yourself.
Redesigned Interface
The biggest visual change to Confide is its completely redesigned interface. Instead of anchoring around an Inbox and Outbox, Confide is now oriented around a streamlined contact list that makes it easier and faster to have a confidential discussion one-on-one or with a group of people. In a sense, we’ve evolved from an Email-centric to a Messenger-centric UI. Part of this redesign means that after you’ve read a message not only does the message disappear, but also the message subject.
Additionally, the introduction of threading makes it even easier to read your next unread message and quickly reply directly after reading a message.
Nudge. Nudge. Nudge.
Confide messages are almost, by definition, timely and urgent. If your message isn’t read right away, it can be frustrating. This is why we created “nudge”. With Confide 2.0, after you send a message, you can easily nudge the recipient to read it by tapping on the paper airplane icon next to their name. They will receive a push notification telling them that they have been nudged to read your message.
We’ve been using nudge internally for a while and have found that it really captures people’s attention and helps recipients to quickly read your message.
